Production:Elder is a flowering plant that is native to Europe, Northern Africa, and Western Asia. It produces large clusters of small, white flowers in the spring, followed by small blueish black (sometimes red) berries.
Qualities:Elderflower has been used worldwide in traditional medicine for its anti-inflammatory and digestion supporting properties. Most commonly it has been used to treat sinus infections and inflammation, cold and flu symptoms, and respiratory disturbances. As a supplement, it has been used for its diuretic and laxative properties.
Common Use:Elderflower has an aromatic, floral, slightly sweet flavor. It can be used in tea or to make syrups, cordials, or cosmetic products.
