Thattai ( Chekkalu )is a deep fried snack from Tamil Nadu made with rice flour and commonly prepared during Pongal and Deepavali festival. It can be salted or sweet. It is known as Nippattu in Karnataka and Chekkalu in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana.
